These photographs combine the traditional still life subject matter of
fruit, vegetables and flowers, with children. Antique photographic processes
inspire the technique. First, watercolor paper is coated by hand with
liquid silver emulsion. Next, the images are printed in a traditional
manner onto the hand-coated paper. The final step involves returning to
the darkroom to selectively bleach and tone the prints. Though it is possible
to make multiple prints of an image, each print requires many individual
steps that vary results and render each print unique.
